Low-pressure system to trigger heavy rainfall across Odisha from August 29
Bhubaneswar, Aug 28: A new low-pressure area is expected to develop over the east-central and adjoining north Bay of Bengal on August 29, which is likely to trigger an active wet spell across Odisha for four days starting Wednesday. The India Meteorological Department’s regional center provided this forecast in its mid-day bulletin today.
Weather Warnings for Odisha Districts:
Day 1 (Up to 08:30 AM, August 29, 2024):
Yellow Warning : Heavy rainfall (7 to 11 cm) is likely at isolated places in Malkangiri, Koraput, Rayagada, Ganjam, Gajapati, Nabarangpur, Kalahandi, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Sundargarh, and Balasore. Thunderstorms with lightning are also expected in these districts, along with coastal Odisha.
Day 2 (From 08:30 AM, August 29, 2024, to 08:30 AM, August 30, 2024):
Orange Warning (Be Prepared to Take Action): Heavy to very heavy rainfall (7 to 11 cm) is likely at isolated places in Malkangiri, Koraput, Nabarangpur, and Rayagada.
Day 3 (From 08:30 AM, August 30, 2024, to 08:30 AM, August 31, 2024):
Orange Warning (Be Prepared to Take Action): Isolated heavy to very heavy rainfall (7 to 20 cm) with extremely heavy rainfall (>20 cm) is likely in Malkangiri and Koraput.
Day 4 (From 08:30 AM, August 31, 2024, to 08:30 AM, September 1, 2024):
Yellow Warning : Heavy rainfall (7 to 11 cm) is likely at isolated places in Nabarangpur, Malkangiri, Koraput, Kalahandi, Rayagada, Bolangir, Nuapada, Gajapati, and Ganjam.
Yellow Warning : Heavy rainfall (7 to 11 cm) is also expected in Ganjam, Gajapati, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Kendrapada, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Nuapada, Nayagarh, Khurda, and Puri. Thunderstorms with lightning are likely in these districts as well as in Malkangiri, Koraput, Nabarangpur, and Rayagada.
