Kendriya Vidyalaya closed after leopard enters school premises in Badmal

Bhubaneswar, Aug 27: The Kendriya Vidyalaya at Badmal Ordnance Factory was closed on Tuesday after a leopard reportedly entered the school premises on Monday night.
The presence of the animal was confirmed by locals and school staff, prompting authorities to shut down the school for the day, suspecting that the leopard might still be inside.
Upon receiving the information, forest staff from Titilagarh arrived at the scene and began an investigation. The Forest Department has installed CCTV cameras at various locations within the school to monitor the leopard's movements. Security personnel, along with forest officials, are closely monitoring the area to ensure safety.
Ranger Sachidananda Subudhi noted that the Ordnance Factory's proximity to the forest necessitates extra precautions. The Badmal forest, which is very close to the locality, is home to around seven to eight leopards. The department plans to collect pug marks from the site to determine the age of the leopard and further assess the situation.
