Odisha to experience widespread rainfall due to low-pressure system

Bhubaneswar, Aug 26: Most parts of Odisha are expected to experience heavy to very heavy rainfall over the coming week due to the influence of a well-marked low-pressure area over Gangetic West Bengal. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), this low-pressure system is likely to move west-northwestwards, affecting areas across Gangetic West Bengal, Jharkhand, and northern Odisha over the next two days.
Additionally, the IMD has forecasted the formation of a new low-pressure area over the east-central and adjoining north Bay of Bengal on August 29.
Weather Forecast and Warnings for Odisha Districts:
Day 1 (Valid until 08:30 AM IST on August 27, 2024):
Light to moderate rain/thundershowers are expected in many areas of north Odisha and at a few places in south Odisha.
Yellow Warning (Be Updated): Heavy rainfall (7 to 11 cm) is likely at one or two locations in Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Jajpur, Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Bargarh, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Boudh, Sonepur, Bolangir, Nuapada, Koraput, and Malkangiri districts.
Day 2 (From 08:30 AM IST on August 27 to 08:30 AM IST on August 28, 2024):
Light to moderate rain/thundershowers are expected in many parts of north Odisha and at a few places in south Odisha.
Yellow Warning (Be Updated): Heavy rainfall (7 to 11 cm) is likely at one or two locations in Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Jharsuguda, Sundargarh, Sambalpur, and Deogarh districts.
Day 3 (From 08:30 AM IST on August 28 to 08:30 AM IST on August 29, 2024):
Light to moderate rain/thundershowers are expected across many parts of Odisha.
