SJTA requests ASI to initiate Ratna Bhandar inspection with cutting-edge technology

Bhubaneswar, Aug 24: Following the removal of empty almirahs and chests from the enigmatic Ratna Bhandar of Puri Jagannath Temple, the Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) on Saturday urged the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) to begin inspection work promptly.
In a letter to the ASI Director-General, SJTA Chief Administrator Arabinda Padhee highlighted the need for advanced technology to survey both the inner and outer chambers of Ratna Bhandar, the sacred treasure vault of Lord Jagannath.
To ensure a comprehensive inspection, the SJTA recommended that the ASI collaborate with specialized institutions like IIT or CBRI, known for their expertise in such matters. Following the survey and inspection, necessary repair work will be undertaken.
This inspection is particularly significant due to earlier concerns about potential secret tunnels or chambers within Ratna Bhandar. The SJTA emphasized the importance of conducting the inspection without compromising the temple’s structural integrity or sanctity.
The upcoming inspection marks a vital step in uncovering the mysteries of Ratna Bhandar while safeguarding the temple's heritage.
