Bhubaneswar, Aug 14: Tension gripped the Baliapanda lighthouse area in Odisha’s Puri on Wednesday after locals discovered the body of a young man bearing injury marks. While the identity of the deceased is still unknown, preliminary assumptions suggest he might be from Balasore district.

An ATM card was found with the deceased, providing a crucial clue for the ongoing investigation. Police suspect the youth was killed elsewhere, with his body later dumped at the beach, as there were no signs of a struggle in the sand.

A forensic team arrived at the scene to conduct a thorough examination. Puri Additional SP Sushil Mishra stated, "It appears that the youth has been beaten to death, and a murder case has been registered. Based on the ATM card, we have confirmed that the deceased is not from Puri."

The incident has left the local community on edge as authorities work to piece together the circumstances leading to the youth's death.
