Vigilance raids properties of Nilagiri Deputy Collector over Rs 1 crore misappropriation

Bhubaneswar, Aug 14: Vigilance officials today launched coordinated searches at the properties of Pariktha Jena, Deputy Collector of Nilagiri, in connection with allegations of financial misappropriation. Jena is accused of embezzling Rs 1,01,03,215 from the Odisha Mineral Bearing Area Development Corporation (OMBADC) funds. The allegations stem from unexecuted developmental works in the Suliapada block area for the financial years 2021-22 and 2022-23.
Jena, who previously served as the BDO of the Suliapada block in Mayurbhanj district, is under scrutiny for this serious breach.
The Odisha Vigilance issued a press release stating that the raids aim to verify these allegations and gather pertinent evidence. Six teams from the Odisha Vigilance, including two Additional SPs, four DSPs, six Inspectors, seven ASIs, and additional supporting staff, are involved in the operation.
The searches are ongoing, and a comprehensive report detailing the findings is anticipated soon.
