Former Chief Engineer Tara Prasad Mishra arrested for disproportionate assets

Bhubaneswar, Aug 13: Vigilance sleuths on Tuesday arrested Tara Prasad Mishra, former chief engineer of Roads & Building (Civil), for accumulating assets disproportionately to his known sources of income.
During the searches, vigilance officials discovered that Mishra possessed disproportionate assets, including 10 high-value flats in Bhubaneswar and Jharsuguda, 7 expensive plots, 2.555 kg of gold, 370 grams of diamonds, deposits over Rs. 2.70 crore, Rs. 6 lakh in cash, and two luxurious cars, including a Mercedes Benz.
The searches were conducted by 12 DSPs, 12 Inspectors, 16 ASIs, and other supporting staff of the Vigilance Department under search warrants issued by the Special Judge, Vigilance, Bhubaneswar.
According to a press release issued by the Vigilance Department on Monday, the searches took place at nine locations in Bhubaneswar, Cuttack, and Jharsuguda.
Mishra failed to provide a satisfactory explanation for the assets registered in his and his family members’ names, prompting the anti-graft department to register a case and arrest him. He will be presented in court later today.
