IMD predicts heavy rainfall across Odisha due to cyclonic circulation
Bhubaneswar, Aug 7: A cyclonic circulation over Gangetic West Bengal and adjoining Bangladesh has shifted, now positioned over Gangetic West Bengal and adjacent areas of Jharkhand and North Odisha.
Extending up to 5.8 km above mean sea level, this circulation is tilting southwestwards with height. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) predicted on Wednesday that this cyclonic circulation is likely to develop into a low-pressure area within the next 24 hours.

For August 8, the IMD also forecasts heavy rainfall (7 to 11 cm) and thunderstorms with lightning in Malkangiri, Balasore, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Bhadrak, Kendrapara, Jajpur, Cuttack, Dhenkanal, Angul, Boudh, Kandhamal, Kalahandi, Nuapada, Bolangir, and Sonepur districts.
On August 9, heavy rainfall (7 to 11 cm) is expected in Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Bargarh, Sonepur, and Bolangir districts.
For August 10, heavy rainfall (7 to 11 cm) is very likely in Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, and Deogarh districts.
