Man injured in Jharsuguda shooting, accused apprehended

Bhubaneswar, July 16: Last night in Banaharpali police limits of Jharsuguda district, a person sustained bullet injuries when two youths opened fire at him.
The injured individual, identified as Manoj Barik from Shanti Nagar, was targeted by MD Sonu from Bandhabahal area and his associate Aswini Rana. Police swiftly apprehended the accused duo and confiscated a country gun, a 9-MM pistol, and 15 live bullets from them.
According to reports, the incident stemmed from a financial dispute involving Manoj’s friend Siba Sagar, who had borrowed money from Sonu. Allegedly threatened by Sonu over the repayment, Manoj intervened to resolve the issue peacefully. However, an agitated Sonu responded by firing at Siba and then fled.
Manoj was rushed to Veer Surendra Sai Institute of Medical Sciences and Research for treatment, where he is currently undergoing medical care. Following the incident, police launched a rigorous manhunt and successfully arrested Sonu and his accomplice.
