Bhubaneswar, July 11: A man allegedly killed his father during a family dispute in Dunguripali village, Bargarh district, on Thursday.

The deceased, identified as Dhananjay Ajagar, was a resident of the village. His son, Vidyadhar Ajagar, reportedly fled the scene after committing the crime.

Sources say that Dhananjay frequently quarreled with and beat his wife over minor issues. Disturbed by the constant fights, Vidyadhar sent his mother to stay with his uncle.

On the night of the incident, Dhananjay returned home intoxicated and confronted Vidyadhar about sending his mother away without his permission. This led to an argument between them. In a fit of rage, Vidyadhar allegedly hacked his father to death.

Dhananjay was initially taken to a nearby hospital and later transferred to Burla Medical College and Hospital as his condition worsened. He succumbed to his injuries while undergoing treatment.

Police, acting on a tip-off, rushed to the scene and have started an investigation.
