Diarrhea outbreak in Mathili block: Four in critical condition

Bhubaneswar, June 11: A diarrhea outbreak has occurred in Kopra village, located in the Mathili block of Malkangiri district, with seven people infected and four in serious condition. The patients have been admitted to the Mathili Subdivision Medical Centre. The exact cause of the outbreak is unclear, but it is suspected to be linked to contaminated tap water.
Reports indicate that several villagers experienced vomiting yesterday. Despite initial treatment, their condition did not improve, leading to the hospitalization of seven individuals, four of whom are in critical condition. A medical team has been dispatched to the village to assess the situation and collect water samples for testing.
In a related development, the health department has issued directives to prepare for dengue prevention during the rainy season. Municipal Corporations have initiated awareness campaigns, deploying vehicles to educate the public about dengue prevention. These vehicles emphasize the importance of preventing water stagnation and using mosquito nets while sleeping.
