Committee recommends opening Jagannath Temple's Ratna Bhandar on July 14

Bhubaneswar, July 9: In a significant development, the high-level committee led by Justice Biswanath Rath has recommended that the state government open the Ratna Bhandar (treasury) of Jagannath Temple in Puri on July 14.
This decision emerged from the second meeting of the reconstituted committee, which was formed to oversee the inventorying of valuables, including jewelry stored in the Ratna Bhandar. The committee, chaired by retired Justice Biswanath Rath of Orissa High Court, aims to reopen the treasury after a gap of 46 years.
Justice Rath informed the media that a proposal for the reopening of the Ratna Bhandar on July 14 will be submitted to the state government. He assured, "Whether the key is available or not, or whether it functions or not, the Ratna Bhandar will be reopened. All we need is the cooperation of devotees."
He added, "Special care will be taken to ensure that devotees can still have darshan of the deities during the opening of the Ratna Bhandar." This proposal marks a significant step toward unveiling the long-awaited treasury, believed to contain valuable artifacts and jewels associated with the deities of Jagannath Temple.
