Odisha CM leads cleanliness drive ahead of Rath Yatra

Bhubaneswar, July 6: On the eve of the iconic Rath Yatra festival, Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Majhi led a mega cleanliness drive at Bada Danda (Grand Road) in Puri on Saturday. He was joined by Deputy Chief Ministers KV Singh Deo and Pravati Parida, among others.
With just one day left before the grand Rath Yatra begins, CM Majhi picked up a broom to clean Bada Danda in preparation for the event. During the Rath Yatra, Lord Jagannath and his siblings are transported along Bada Danda in three massive wooden chariots, accompanied by lakhs of devotees.
To ensure a clean and welcoming environment for the festival, CM Majhi, his deputies, and other cabinet ministers conducted a massive cleanliness drive. CM Majhi stated, “Tomorrow, the Mahaprabhu Lord Jagannath will come to Bada Danda to give darshan to his devotees. With lakhs of devotees expected to gather here, the state government has undertaken this cleanliness drive to keep Bada Danda clean for the festival. This initiative aims to raise awareness about cleanliness among the people. We urge devotees to avoid using single-use plastic and to keep Bada Danda litter-free.”
Alongside the Deputy CMs KV Singh Deo and Pravati Parida, Puri MP Sambit Patra, Law Minister Prithviraj Harichandan, Sports Minister Suryabanshi Suraj, and numerous volunteers also participated in the cleanliness drive.
