Woman brutally murdered over black magic suspicions in Mayurbhanj

Bhubaneswar, July 4: In a horrific incident on Thursday, a woman was killed by a man under suspicion of practicing black magic in Nischintapur village, under the jurisdiction of Badasahi village in Mayurbhanj district.
The victim, identified as 72-year-old Gouri Behera, was brutally attacked and killed by her neighbor, 35-year-old Babuli Mahakud. Babuli, who believed Gouri was practicing black magic, attacked her with an axe as she was returning home, decapitating her in broad daylight.
Villagers apprehended Babuli and reported the incident to the police. A police team led by Inspector In-Charge (IIC) Umashankar Nayak quickly arrived at the scene, arrested Babuli, and seized the weapon used in the crime.
Inspector Nayak stated, “Further investigation into the matter will be conducted after the arrival of the scientific team.” The cold-blooded murder has left the villagers terrified.
