CM Majhi starts work at Lok Seva Bhawan, announces key Odia initiatives

Bhubaneswar, July 4: Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Majhi officially began working from Lok Seva Bhawan on Thursday, 22 days after taking oath as Chief Minister.
Previously, the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) was operating from the state guest house due to ongoing renovations on the third floor of Lok Seva Bhawan. Although CM Majhi presided over the first cabinet meeting at Lok Seva Bhawan, he had not yet visited his designated chamber.
Upon his arrival on Thursday, the Chief Minister bowed down before entering Lok Seva Bhawan. He was welcomed by Deputy CM K V Singh Deo, Cabinet Ministers, Chief Secretary Manoj Ahuja, and other senior officials. Eight priests chanted Vedic hymns as he entered his chamber.
During this occasion, the CM made several significant decisions to promote 'Odia Asmita' (Odia identity). He announced that all state administration will be conducted in Odia, the official language of Odisha. He stated, “A commission will be formed to promote and spread the Odia language. The Odia Language Institute will be reconstituted, and the Odisha Official Language Act will be amended if necessary to ensure the use of Odia in government work.”
CM Majhi also emphasized cultural development alongside material progress, stating, “We will preserve and promote Odia identity. The government will reconstitute academies related to literature, art, music, and fine arts, encouraging each district’s art and culture. An Academy of Translation and Odia Identity Bhavan will be established, utilizing modern, user-friendly technology for language education.”
Additionally, Majhi mentioned plans to appoint Odia language teachers at the higher secondary level and expedite the construction of the Paika Academy and Memorial. He reaffirmed the government's commitment to developing various historical sites across the state.
