Cuttack village shaken by bomb attacks, police rush to quell violence

Bhubaneswar, July 2: Last night, Belanta village in Cuttack district was rattled by a series of bomb attacks, plunging residents into a state of fear and panic.
Approximately 10 bombs were reportedly hurled at multiple locations across the village, sparking widespread anxiety among villagers. Sources indicate that a longstanding dispute between two groups precipitated the incident.
The confrontation escalated into violence as both groups engaged in bomb hurling, although fortunately, no casualties were reported. Upon receiving the alert, a police team led by Athagarh Sub-Divisional Police Officer promptly arrived at the scene to restore calm and security in the village.
Earlier, tensions between the groups had flared during Holi celebrations, resulting in a clash that left five individuals injured, including the husband of the village Sarpanch and his brother-in-law. After a temporary lull, hostilities reignited between the factions.
The incident has instilled fear among villagers, prompting many to remain indoors for safety. Tigiria police have launched an investigation into the matter and deployed additional forces to prevent further disturbances in the area.
