Eight-year-old boy killed in crocodile attack in Angul

Bhubaneswar, June 29: An eight-year-old boy tragically died after being attacked by a crocodile in the Tikarpada area of Angul district on Saturday.
While the identity of the deceased boy is yet to be confirmed, it is believed that he was from the Tikarpada Ghat area.
Sources report that the boy was playing on the banks of the Mahanadi River when a crocodile emerged from the water and dragged him in. Locals immediately alerted fire brigade personnel, who launched a search operation. After a frantic search, the boy's body was recovered by the firefighting officials.
The boy’s death has sent shockwaves through the locality. Chief Minister Shri Mohan Charan Majhi expressed deep sorrow over the incident and extended his condolences to the boy’s family. He also announced an ex-gratia of Rs 6 lakh for the next of kin of the deceased.
