Four police personnel suspended in ganja smuggling scandal

Bhubaneswar, June 28: Four police officers have been suspended in Odisha following their alleged involvement in a ganja smuggling case, a shocking incident reported on Friday. DIG Uma Shankar Dash took action against ASI Jitendra Samantsinghar, Constable Manoj Nayak, Constable Lingraj Muduli, and driver Ajit Sahoo, all stationed at the Police Headquarters in Kishor Nagar police station, Angul district.
Reports suggest that traffickers frequently used roads in Angul district to smuggle marijuana from Boudh district. There were previous allegations that some police officers near the border were accepting bribes to facilitate this illegal trade.
After receiving information about these activities, DIG Uma Shankar Dash initiated surveillance on the officers, gathering evidence of their involvement. Once sufficient evidence was gathered, he suspended the four officers for their alleged complicity in the marijuana smuggling operation.
DIG Dash clarified that the suspensions were due to the officers' indirect involvement in the case, emphasizing that further actions would follow after a thorough investigation.
