Hockey India sponsorship extended by Odisha Government until 2036

Bhubaneswar, June 21: The Odisha government has extended its sponsorship of Hockey India for an additional three years, from 2033 to 2036, reaffirming its dedication to advancing the sport. Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi announced this decision following a meeting with Hockey India President Dilip Tirkey and Secretary General Bholanath Singh at the State Guest House today.
Discussions during the meeting highlighted Odisha's prominent global position in hockey and its significant contributions to the development of the Indian national hockey team. Both parties expressed their commitment to collaborating closely to further elevate the sport.
Chief Minister Majhi underscored Odisha's upcoming centenary of statehood in 2036 as a pivotal reason for extending Hockey India's sponsorship period. Since 2018, the Odisha government has been a principal sponsor of the Indian hockey team, continuing the support initiated by previous administrations aimed at bolstering the sport through 2023.
