Sambalpur stabbing victim passes away at VIMSAR

Bhubaneswar, June 18: A young girl receiving treatment at Veer Surendra Sai Institute of Medical Sciences and Research (VIMSAR) after being stabbed on May 14 succumbed to her injuries on Tuesday. The incident occurred in Dinapali under Ainthapali police limits in Sambalpur district.
According to sources, Payal Das and her mother were on their way to their shop when they were allegedly attacked by Suraj Hati. The families of Suraj and Payal have reportedly been involved in a long-standing land dispute.
After the attack, both Payal and her mother were rescued and taken to Sambalpur District Headquarters Hospital. Due to the severity of their conditions, they were later transferred to VIMSAR.
Suraj reportedly fled the scene after committing the crime. Sources indicated that Payal's mother, Indu, owns a tailoring shop to support her family after her husband fell ill.
