Orissa High Court grants bail to BJP MLA Prashant Jagdev

Bhubaneswar, June 12: The Orissa High Court granted regular bail to BJP MLA Prashant Jagdev on Wednesday. Jagdev had been arrested on May 26 for allegedly tampering with an EVM and assaulting two polling personnel in a booth during the voting process.
Earlier, on June 7, Additional District Judge-I had granted interim bail to Jagdev for three days from June 9 to June 12, with the requirement for him to surrender before the court on June 12.
The Orissa High Court, while hearing Jagdev's bail petition, granted him bail while maintaining the conditions set by the lower court.
Jagdev was arrested by the police for allegedly tampering with an EVM and assaulting two polling personnel at booth no. 114 of Kaunripatana under Bolagarh block, Bengunia Assembly constituency, on May 25, as per the complaint filed by the presiding officer. Subsequently, he was arrested and sent to jail.
