Rayagada district gripped by diarrhea outbreak: One fatality, four critical

Bhubaneswar, June 11: Several cases of diarrhea have been reported in Rayagada district, Odisha, resulting in one death and four individuals in critical condition. The incidents occurred in Gelkana village, Daliakuji panchayat, under Bishamcuttack block.
The deceased has been identified as Gopal Kandamaka, 28. Of the four critically ill patients, one has been admitted to Muniguda Government Medical Centre, while the other three—Kumari Mandika, Milan Mandika, Kavitha Shabar, and Kadulu Kandamaka—are being treated at the Christian Medical Centre in Bishamcuttack.
Gopal Kandamaka was initially taken to Muniguda Government Medical Centre by his family after experiencing severe vomiting. As his condition worsened, he was transferred to Rayagada Medical Centre, where he passed away on Monday. Reports indicate that newly elected Congress MLA Nilamadhav Hikaka visited the village to meet the patients. The cause of the diarrhea outbreak remains unclear.
