Minor siblings drown while bathing in Odisha’s Kusumi River
Bhubaneswar, June 6: Two minor siblings drowned while bathing in the Kusumi River near Baunsiapada village under the Itamati police jurisdiction in Odisha’s Nayagarh district on Thursday morning.
The deceased have been identified as Kajal and Sai from Baunsiapada village.
Reports indicate that the tragedy occurred when the siblings were bathing in the river with their mother. They were caught in strong currents and swept away.
Upon hearing the mother’s cries for help, villagers rushed to the scene and managed to pull Kajal and Sai from the river. The children were taken to the hospital, where they were pronounced dead by the doctors.
The Itamati police have registered a case of unnatural death and are investigating the incident.
