Malkangiri’s missing doctor rescued from Karnataka

Bhubaneswar, June 5: Doctor Amlan Bhoi, who had been missing from his official quarters in Malkangiri district since June 1, has been located in Karnataka.
Bhoi, stationed at the Kalimela Community Health Centre (CHC), had attended his hospital duties and returned to his government quarters in the afternoon on June 1. However, he was found missing from his residence the following morning.
The Malkangiri police have successfully traced the missing doctor to Karnataka. This information was confirmed by the Malkangiri Superintendent of Police (SP), who dismissed the possibility of Maoist involvement in the case.
Following a complaint filed by the health centre officials at CHC, Kalimela police initiated an investigation and launched a search operation for Dr. Bhoi.
It has come to light that miscreants had abducted the doctor to conduct a post-mortem on an unidentified body in Karnataka. A police team will be dispatched to Karnataka to bring Dr. Bhoi back to Odisha.
Speaking to the media, the Malkangiri SP stated, “Dr. Amlan Bhoi has been located. He is safe and sound. He is being brought to Malkangiri from Karnataka.”
Earlier media reports had suggested that Bhoi was abducted by Maoists. However, Malkangiri SDPO Sachin Patel has denied any Maoist involvement in Bhoi’s disappearance.
