Wife slain by husband outside Odisha polling booth

Bhubaneswar, June 1: A tragic incident unfolded at a polling booth in Odisha's Bhadrak district on Saturday, as a man allegedly hacked his wife to death amidst a family dispute. The victim, identified as Rashmirekha Behera, was confronted by her husband, Prabhakar Rout, as she stood outside booth No-4 alongside her maternal uncle, intending to cast her vote.
Tensions escalated as Prabhakar arrived at the scene, engaging in a heated argument with Rashmirekha. Matters took a deadly turn when Prabhakar, reportedly armed with a sharp weapon, lashed out at his wife, resulting in her immediate demise.
Local authorities swiftly responded to the distressing scene, detaining Prabhakar for questioning while Rashmirekha's body was sent for postmortem examination. The incident underscores the grim consequences of domestic disputes and the urgent need for intervention and support in such situations.
