Election material ban implemented before Odisha Phase IV polls

Bhubaneswar, May 31: With only a few hours remaining until the Phase IV Odisha elections, Chief Electoral Officer Nikunja Bihari Dhal has imposed restrictions on the broadcast of election material through television or other communication media.
The CEO issued a release stating that since the final phase of the polls is scheduled for June 1, 2024, no election material can be displayed to the public via television, cinematograph, or other similar apparatus during the silence period, which commenced at 6 PM on May 30, 2024.
According to the Election Commission of India (ECI) decision, there will be a ban on broadcasting any election-related material through television, cinematograph, or other similar communication mediums. This restriction will remain in effect for the 48 hours leading up to the end of polling in any area. Violating these provisions can result in punishment, including imprisonment of up to two years, a fine, or both.
