Puri firecracker blast death toll rises to four
Bhubaneswar, May 31: The death toll from the Puri firecracker explosion incident has risen to four, with another burn injury patient succumbing to their injuries during treatment on Friday.
An official statement from the Odisha Special Relief Commissioner (SRC) cites the state Health & FW Department, confirming the additional casualty in the tragic fire incident in Puri. "With this development, the total death toll has reached four," the release stated.
Meanwhile, the Puri District Collector has initiated measures to provide Rs 4 lakh each in ex-gratia assistance to the families of the four deceased individuals. Currently, 26 patients are receiving medical treatment at various hospitals in Puri, Bhubaneswar, and Cuttack.
The state government continues to closely monitor the situation, as mentioned in the release.
