Bhubaneswar, May 27: In a tragic incident, a couple was found dead by electrocution at Parbatipur village in Balasore district on Sunday.

The deceased, identified as Manoj Mahakud (32) and Sasmita Mahakud (28), were discovered in their bedroom after family members, concerned by their lack of response, forcibly entered the room.

According to sources, the couple retired to their bedroom after lunch. Later in the afternoon, Sasmita's sister and brother-in-law arrived to visit them. Despite repeated attempts to make contact, the couple did not respond. Upon entering the room, the family members found the couple dead, with electric wire wrapped around their necks.

The incident is suspected to be a case of suicide by electrocution, although the exact reason behind their deaths is yet to be determined.

Simulia police have initiated an investigation and sent the bodies for postmortem examination.
