Sand artist Sudarsan Pattnaik creates giant sculpture to promote voting

Bhubaneswar, May 25: On Saturday, renowned sand artist Sudarsan Pattnaik crafted a massive sand sculpture on Puri Beach in Odisha to raise awareness about voting.
Pattnaik's sand sculpture, spanning 2,000 square feet, conveyed the message “Chunab ka Parba, Desh ka Garv” ("Festival of Election, Pride of the Nation"). To attract voters, he incorporated mangoes, a popular summer fruit, into his artwork. He used approximately 500 kilograms of mangoes and took about five hours to complete the piece, with assistance from students of his institute.
Earlier, on March 10, Pattnaik had created another sand art on Puri Beach to encourage first-time voters, with the message ‘Mera Pehla Vote Desh Ke Liye’ ("My First Vote for the Nation"). His goal was to inspire young voters and emphasize the importance of their participation in shaping the country's future.
Pattnaik, who has participated in over 65 international sand art competitions and festivals, has brought significant recognition to Odisha with his work.
