Bhubaneswar, May 23: A tragic incident occurred on Thursday in Ganianala village under the Digapahandi police jurisdiction in Ganjam district, where a laborer died while cleaning a well.

The deceased, identified as Dibakar Sahu from Naranpur, managed to save two other laborers before succumbing to suffocation.

According to sources, Dibakar and two other laborers were hired to clean a well in Ganianala village. While the two laborers entered the well, Dibakar stayed outside to oversee the work. When the two laborers inside the well stopped responding to calls, Dibakar immediately descended into the well and discovered that they had fainted due to suffocation. He successfully helped them out of the well but then lost consciousness himself due to the lack of oxygen.

Upon being alerted by villagers, fire brigade officers arrived at the scene and rescued Dibakar from the well. He was rushed to a nearby hospital, where doctors declared him brought dead.
