Foreign sailor dies in tragic accident at Paradip Port

Bhubaneswar, May 23: A foreign national died after falling off a ship at Paradip port in Odisha on Wednesday afternoon. The deceased, identified as Filipino sailor Azarcon Earl Wilhelm Curao, fell while cleaning the ship’s crane on the 'MV Jukad'.
He was rescued from the anchorage and admitted to Paradip Harbor Hospital, where the doctor declared him brought dead. The ship had unloaded cargo in Bangladesh and arrived at Paradip port to load coal, where it was anchored at the time of the incident.
A case has been registered at Paradip Nehru Bangla Marine Police Station, and an investigation is ongoing. The Philippine Embassy has been contacted, and arrangements are being made to send the body back to the Philippines.
