Odisha election violence: Supporter critically hurt in Keonjhar clash

Bhubaneswar, May 23: With less than 24 hours remaining until the third phase of polling in Odisha, an episode of pre-poll violence in Ghasipura, Keonjhar district, has resulted in critical injuries to a supporter of a political party.
The victim, identified as Basanta Chakra from Pandua village, is currently receiving treatment at Saintala Community Health Centre in critical condition. Allegedly attacked by miscreants due to political rivalry on Wednesday night, Basant was swiftly taken to Sainkul Community Health Centre.
The incident has heightened tensions in the area.
This incident follows a previous case of pre-poll violence between two political parties in Khallikote, which resulted in one fatality and injuries to seven others. The deceased, Dilip Pahan of Srikrushnasaranpur village under Khallikote police limits, was identified as the victim.
Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik condemned the violence on Thursday.
