EOW arrests fugitive proprietor of Quick Click Ad Media

Bhubaneswar, May 21: On May 18, the Economics Offense Wing (EOW) of Bhubaneswar arrested Bimalananda Bhuyan, the long-absconding proprietor of Quick Click Ad Media. Bhuyan was apprehended within the Indiranagar Police Station limits in connection with EOW PS Case No. 10, which was registered on December 17, 2020, under sections 406, 420, 467, 471, and 120-B of the IPC. Following his arrest, Bhuyan was produced before the Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate (ACJM)-II in Lucknow and subsequently brought to Bhubaneswar under a transit remand.
Bhuyan is scheduled to be presented before the P.O. designated court under the OPID Act in Cuttack on Tuesday.
Ramya Bhuyan, the wife of the accused and a partner in the LLP, was also arrested and had been forwarded to the court a few days earlier. She had been working with a real estate company in Mumbai by falsifying her details on her Aadhar card.
The case was initiated based on allegations by Bikash Podar of Sambalpur, who accused Bimalananda Bhuyan and his wife of defrauding 53 investors of Rs. 1.2 crore under the pretense of supplying LED monitors for advertisements through their organization, Quick Click AD Media, an LLP registered with ROC, Chhattisgarh, in 2017.
Investors were enticed with two lucrative schemes. The first required an investment of Rs. 54,000 for a 3’x3’ LED monitor, promising a return of Rs. 3,100 per month for three years. The second scheme required an investment of Rs. 3 lakhs for a 6.4”x6.4” LED monitor, offering a 70% profit for three years, after which the investor would receive 30% of the profit while the LLP would take 70%.
The couple collected approximately Rs. 2 crores from over 100 investors but absconded without purchasing any LED monitors. The firm operated mainly in Khordha, Koraput, Nayagarh, Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Rourkela, Sambalpur, and Ganjam districts in Odisha, with its head office in Shyamnagar, Raipur, Chhattisgarh, and branch offices in Jagdalpur, Chhattisgarh, and Jaydev Vihar, Bhubaneswar.
