Bhubaneswar, May 18: A woman was allegedly beaten to death over a land dispute in Ghantaghara village, under Ghatagaon police limits in Keonjhar district, on Friday night.

The victim, identified as Kuntala Nayak, a resident of Ghantaghara village, was found dead with her husband critically injured following a brutal attack.

Sources report that locals discovered her body lying in a pool of blood in front of her house on Saturday and alerted the police. Kuntala had been involved in a prolonged land dispute with a fellow villager, Rabindra. Allegedly, Rabindra and his son Mangulu plotted to eliminate her.

Police have detained Rabindra and his son on charges of Kuntala's murder and are interrogating them. Another acquaintance of Rabindra remains at large.

The police have seized Kuntala's body and sent it for post-mortem examination. A scientific team has been deployed to assist with the investigation.
