Soil cave-in claims lives of three laborers in Jajpur

Bhubaneswar, May 16: Three laborers lost their lives in a tragic incident on Thursday morning when a mound of soil collapsed on them at Kapila Rahansa in Jajpur district's Binjharpur block.
The accident occurred while the laborers, employed by a construction company, were laying pipelines. The deceased individuals hailed from Bihar and Tamil Nadu.
According to reports, the mishap unfolded as loose soil collapsed on the laborers while they were engaged in their tasks. Local residents promptly responded, rescuing the trapped individuals. Initially taken to Binjharpur Hospital, their deteriorating condition necessitated their transfer to Jajpur District Headquarters Hospital, where they were pronounced dead.
Other laborers who suffered minor injuries were treated and subsequently discharged from the hospital after receiving first-aid. Upon receiving a tip-off, police swiftly arrived at the scene and arranged for the bodies to undergo post-mortem examinations.
An investigation into the incident has been initiated by the authorities.
