NBW issued against Anubhav Mohanty in Barsha Priyadarshini case

Cuttack, May 13: An arrest warrant, which is non-bailable, has been issued against Anubhav Mohanty regarding the Barsha Priyadarshini harassment case. The Cuttack Special JMFC court ordered this warrant on Monday and set a deadline for its implementation by May 23. Anubhav Mohanty and an accomplice were named in the warrant.
The court dismissed a time petition as Anubhav failed to appear, according to Public Prosecutor Afroz Ahmed. There has been no response from Anubhav regarding this matter.
On May 10, MP Anubhav Mohanty did not attend court proceedings, leading to the postponement of charge framing. His lawyer requested more time, citing personal reasons.
This case dates back to 2020 when allegations including mental and physical torture, threats, and other charges were filed against Anubhav Mohanty and two others at the Purighat police station. Anubhav's discharge petition was opposed by government lawyers.
Assistant Public Prosecutor (APP) mentioned that the essential facts related to Barsha Priyadarshini's allegations were substantiated, awaiting further detailed reports on the matter.
