Two polling officials suspended in Odisha by ECI for dereliction of duty

Bhubaneswar, May 13: On Monday, the Election Commission of India (ECI) took action by suspending two polling officials in Odisha due to alleged negligence in their duties.
Odisha Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Nikunja Bihari Dhal reported that one of the suspended officials is from Narla Assembly constituency in Kalahandi district, while the other hails from Ganjam district.
Dhal stated to the media today, "We are closely monitoring the polling process through webcasting. A minor clash incident was reported in the Chikiti area of Ganjam district. I have communicated with the Berhampur SP and Ganjam Collector, urging them to ensure smooth voting operations in the Berhampur LS constituency, particularly in the Chikiti area."
He further appealed to the public to participate in large numbers in the voting process, highlighting the low voter turnout in the Berhampur Lok Sabha constituency. Dhal acknowledged a few technical glitches with Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) in some locations during the early hours, but assured that the situation has since been rectified and stabilized.
