Odisha sees 52.91% voter turnout by 3pm

Bhubaneswar, May 13: Reports indicate that the Narla Assembly constituency in Odisha boasted the highest voter turnout of 61.65% by 3 pm, surpassing all 28 Assembly seats.
Conversely, urban Berhampur witnessed the lowest voter engagement in Phase I, with only 37.23% turnout by 3 pm. In contrast, Chikiti and Digapahandi exhibited over 50% participation, as per the Election Commission reports.
Notably, Nuapada district led with a 58.25% turnout by 3 pm, followed closely by Kalahandi at 57.91%. However, Ganjam recorded the lowest participation at 44.39%, trailed by Gajapati at 45.29%.
Across eight districts including Ganjam, Gajapati, Rayagada, Koraput, Malkangiri, Nabarangpur, Kalahandi, and Nuapada in South Odisha, voters are queuing systematically at polling booths, eagerly exercising their voting rights.
In this first phase, voting is ongoing for four Lok Sabha and 28 assembly seats, with a total of 37 candidates contending for the Koraput, Kalahandi, Nabarangpur, and Berhampur Lok Sabha seats.
Moreover, 243 candidates are competing across the 28 assembly seats under these four Lok Sabha constituencies. With 62.87 lakh voters participating in the first phase, comprising 30 million male and 3.1 million female voters, voting is progressing across 7,033 booths.
However, reports indicate that polling faced delays in some booths due to EVM glitches in Odisha on Monday, despite voting commencing for the first phase across four Lok Sabha constituencies including Berhampur, Koraput, Nabarangpur, and Kalahandi.
