Sons' heartfelt gesture: Donating parents' eyes after fatal accident

Bhubaneswar, May 10: In a heartrending incident at Palasuni Square in Bhubaneswar on May 8, a couple tragically lost their lives in a freak mishap. Despite their profound grief, the couple's two sons demonstrated remarkable compassion by fulfilling their parents' final wish—they donated their eyes to a local private hospital.
Honoring their parents' wishes, the grieving sons chose to contribute their parents' eyes, viewing it as a poignant tribute to their memory. "It was one of the wishes of our parents. So, we decided to donate their eyes to fulfill their wish. It was a small tribute to our parents," expressed both sons.
According to reports, the fatal accident occurred as Umesh Panigrahi and his wife Nalini (62) were crossing the road. Tragically, a speeding truck struck Nalini, instantly claiming her life. Umesh, dragged by the truck for nearly a kilometer, also succumbed to his injuries.
The couple, natives of Anandapur under Biramaharajpur sub-division in Subarnapur district, was en route to Puri to commemorate their 39th wedding anniversary when the devastating accident occurred.
