Cash worth Rs 75 lakh seized from two passengers at Biju Patnaik International Airport

Bhubaneswar, April 30: In a significant development, authorities at Biju Patnaik International Airport in Bhubaneswar, Odisha, confiscated a total of Rs 75 lakh in cash from two passengers within a single day.
Sources reveal that the cash was discovered concealed within the trolley bags of the passengers, one of whom arrived from Delhi and the other from Chennai.
The detection occurred during routine luggage screening at the airport, prompting swift action from airport authorities who seized the money and launched an investigation into the matter. Initial reports suggest that the cash may be linked to a prominent businessman.

With the backdrop of ongoing general elections, rigorous checks are being conducted across the state. Earlier, during routine blocking and checking operations in preparation for the elections in Bhubaneswar, authorities seized 59 vehicles along with Rs 3,60,000 in cash.
One individual, identified as Amallan Jyoti Prakash Singh from Chandaka, was found in possession of Rs 3,60,000 during a line check near Omfed Chhaka in the state capital. Singh was unable to provide satisfactory explanations regarding the money, leading to his detention for further interrogation by the authorities.
