Her dismissal was executed in accordance with the provisions outlined in the Odisha Civil Services (Classification, Control & Appeal) Rules, 1962.
The Vigilance Directorate revealed that Biswal's conviction stemmed from her trial before the Special Judge Vigilance Angul on May 12, 2023. A chargesheet had been filed against her at the Vigilance police station in Cuttack (case No. 8) on February 6, 2017, under Sections 13(2)r/w 13(1)(d)/7 of the Prevention of Corruption (PC) Act, 1988. As a result of her conviction, the Special Judge sentenced Biswal to three years of rigorous imprisonment and imposed a fine of Rs 5,000.
