Nandankanan Zoological park mourns loss of 'Sneha,' beloved white tigress

Bhubaneswar, April 19: 'Sneha,' the 14-year-old white tigress residing at Nandankanan Zoological Park near Bhubaneswar, passed away while undergoing treatment on Friday. Falling ill on Thursday, she was under medical care, grappling with age-related issues exacerbated by the recent intense heatwave in the area.
Born on March 1, 2010, 'Sneha' was the offspring of the Royal Bengal tiger 'Nishan' and white tigress 'Kusum.' She leaves behind a legacy as the proud mother of eight tigers within the zoo.
Her maternal accomplishments include giving birth to three tiger cubs—Mousumi, Chinu, and the rare melanistic Vicky—on August 5, 2016. Following her second pregnancy, she birthed two male tiger cubs named Luv and Kush. Later, 'Sneha' delivered three more male tiger cubs—Rakesh, Rocky, and Banshi—on March 28, 2021, after mating with tiger Saif.
