Odisha elections: Teacher punished for alleged model code violation

Bhubaneswar, April 15: Yet another school teacher faces consequences for an alleged breach of the Model Code of Conduct preceding the dual elections in Odisha.
Reports indicate that Govardhan Pradhan, a teacher stationed at Tribal High School in Kantamal constituency, has been relocated due to purported involvement in political activities leading up to the state's twin polls. Pradhan has been reassigned to Mathura Panchayat High School in Boudh constituency.
After verifying the accusation against Pradhan, the Boudh District Collector and District Election Officer instructed the District Education Officer (DEO) to take action against the implicated teacher on April 13.
This incident follows the suspension of a teacher from Dahya Government Nodal High School in the same district for participating in a political party's election rally. The Boudh Collector and District Election Officer found the assistant teacher, Sanghamitra Mallick, guilty and placed her under suspension.
