Temperatures on the rise: IMD warns of 40°C heat in Odisha by early April
Bhubaneswar, March 28: As temperatures surge steadily across Odisha, the regional center of the India Meteorological Department (IMD) issues alerts indicating a looming maximum temperature of 40°C in various parts of the state in the coming days.
According to IMD forecasts, Thursday is expected to witness maximum temperatures of 38°C in at least nine locations across Odisha. Areas including Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Sonepur, Boudh, Bolangir, Titilagarh, Bhawanipatna, Parlakhemundi, and Nayagarh are poised to experience temperatures touching or surpassing 38°C.
Similarly, other regions like Sambalpur, Bargarh, Nabarangpur, Raigarh, Bhubaneswar, Chandbali, Bhadrak, Baripada, Dhenkanal, and Angul may see temperatures reaching up to 37°C.
While light rain and thunderstorms are predicted in some areas on Friday, the IMD forecasts no relief from the heat. Jharsuguda is anticipated to hit 40°C on Friday, while Niagara, Bhawanipatna, and Bolangir may reach 39°C.
On Saturday, temperatures are expected to climb even higher, with Jharsuguda and Sundargarh potentially touching 40°C. Meanwhile, other areas like Bolangir, Titilagarh, Bhawanipatna, Parlakhemundi, Bhubaneswar, Nayagarh, Sonepur, and Boudh are likely to experience temperatures of 39°C.
