Foreign tourist apprehended for entering Puri Srimandir illegally

Puri, March 23: Singhadwar Police apprehend foreign woman tourist for unauthorized entry into Srimandir.
Reportedly, the temple's security personnel failed to recognize the foreign visitor at the shrine's entrance, where the access of non-Hindus is prohibited. It was only when a temple servitor noticed her near Baisipahacha that Singhadwar police were alerted.
Acting on the tip-off, authorities intervened to prevent her from entering the temple premises and subsequently detained her for questioning. Police are currently in the process of verifying the woman's identity, visa, and passport.
This incident follows a similar occurrence on March 4, when nine Bangladesh nationals were also detained by police for allegedly breaching the norms of the Jagannath temple. Members of the Vishva Hindu Parishad had observed them entering the shrine and subsequently lodged a complaint with Singhadwar Police, citing violation of the Shree Jagannath Temple Act, 1955.
During interrogation, the detained foreigners reportedly confessed their ignorance of the temple's guidelines prohibiting entry for non-Hindus.
