Naveen announces substantial raises for PRI representatives

Bhubaneswar, March 12: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has announced a significant increase in the honorarium and allowances for representatives of Panchayati Raj Institutions (PRI) in the State.
This decision follows proposals put forth by Panchayati Raj representatives during their meetings with Kartik Pandian across various districts.
Under the new provisions, the Zilla Parishad chairperson will now receive a monthly honorarium of Rs 30,000, up from Rs 9,380 previously. Additionally, their daily allowance (DA) and sitting fee have been raised from Rs 300 to Rs 600. The ZP vice-president's honorarium has been increased from Rs 7,040 to Rs 20,000, with their DA and sitting fee also raised to Rs 600. Zilla Parishad members will now receive Rs 10,000 as their monthly honorarium, up from Rs 3,530, with their DA and sitting fee similarly increased to Rs 600.
Similarly, Panchayat Samiti chairpersons will now receive Rs 15,000 per month, up from Rs 35,300 previously. Vice-presidents of Panchayat Samiti will receive Rs 7,005 compared to their earlier honorarium of Rs 2,350. Panchayat Samiti members will also see their honorarium rise from Rs 2,350 to Rs 7,005.
Moreover, Sarpanchs will now receive Rs 10,000, a significant increase from the previous Rs 2,350. Naib Sarpanchs will see their honorarium rise to Rs 4,000, up from Rs 940. Additionally, the daily allowance and sitting fee for various positions including Panchayat Samiti Chairman, Deputy Chairman, members, Sarpanch, Naib Sarpanch, and Ward members have been increased from Rs 240 to Rs 480.
