Odisha CM announces salary boost for disabled education volunteers

Bhubaneswar, Marc 2: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has announced an increase in the remuneration for education volunteers catering to the physically handicapped, raising it from Rs. 5379 to Rs. 10,000 per month.
The decision stems from the CM's empathetic consideration of the various demands voiced by these volunteers. This enhancement will directly benefit the 1,117 Disabled Education Volunteers (PHIEV) currently serving in the state. Since 2014, the government has enlisted the services of PHIEVs across Gram Panchayats to provide specialized education and support to disabled students in state schools, with the volunteers previously receiving Rs. 5379 monthly.
Notably, during a visit by 5-T Chairman Kartik Pandian to the district, the volunteers highlighted their challenges, prompting attention to their concerns.
