Odisha CM announces pay hike for Anganwadi workers

Bhubaneswar, Feb 29: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has made a significant decision to address the demands of Anganwadi workers, mini Anganwadi workers, and helpers in the state. The increase in their monthly remuneration, along with the provision of social security assistance and post-retirement incentives, marks a positive step towards recognizing the crucial role these individuals play in the community.
With the monthly remuneration for Anganwadi workers rising from Rs 7,500 to Rs 10,000, and for mini Anganwadi workers increasing to Rs 7,250 from Rs 5,375, along with helpers receiving Rs 5,000 instead of Rs 3,750, this move is expected to benefit approximately 1.48 lakh individuals. The additional expenditure of Rs 350 crore annually underscores the government's commitment to improving the welfare of these workers.
The retrospective implementation of the revised remuneration from October 2023, along with the prompt disbursement of increments for the past four months, demonstrates the government's responsiveness to the workers' needs. This decision not only acknowledges their dedication but also aims to enhance their financial stability and well-being.
The engagement between the workers and 5T chairman Kartik Pandian, which preceded this decision, highlights the importance of constructive dialogue and advocacy in addressing the concerns of frontline workers effectively. Overall, this initiative reflects a proactive approach towards promoting social welfare and ensuring dignity for those serving in vital roles within the community.
