Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik unveils array of development projects in Bargarh

Bhubaneswar, Feb 20: In a significant move towards bolstering infrastructure and healthcare facilities, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik embarked on a visit to Bargarh in Odisha, where he inaugurated a total of 62 developmental projects, with the spotlight on the newly inaugurated 100-bedded Cancer Hospital valued at over Rs 2149 crore.
Among the unveiled projects, Patnaik laid the foundation stone for 21 initiatives valued at over Rs 263 crore, contributing to the district's comprehensive development agenda.
The highlighted projects included the Gangadhar Meher Irrigation Project, crafted with an investment of Rs 1677.42 crore, and the state-of-the-art Nrusinghanath Temple, refurbished at a cost of Rs 22.78 crore. Additionally, the completion of the Sohela-Nuapada Biju Expressway and 37 High Schools' redevelopment were celebrated achievements.
Moreover, significant strides were made in education and healthcare sectors, with 56 colleges transformed into modern educational hubs and five healthcare institutions upgraded to 'Ama Hospitals'. Furthermore, 'Ama Bank' services have been extended to 185 gram panchayats, previously devoid of banking facilities, while 262 bus stops were constructed under the ‘LaccMi’ scheme.
Under the ‘Ama Odisha Nabin Odisha’ initiative, a total of 3135 projects, valued at Rs 126.50 crores, are actively being implemented in the district, enhancing its socio-economic landscape.
During the event, Chief Minister Patnaik paid homage to revered poet Gangadhar Meher and freedom fighter Maa Parvati Giri, emphasizing Bargarh's rich cultural heritage. He lauded the weavers of the region for their invaluable contribution to Odisha's global identity.
Expressing optimism about the newly inaugurated Cancer Hospital, Patnaik asserted its pivotal role in delivering superior healthcare services to the residents of Western Odisha. Highlighting the broader healthcare initiative, he disclosed plans to establish 11 cancer hospitals across the state under the 5T initiative, with an estimated investment exceeding Rs 1000 crore.
