Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik unveils 20 new bus stands across Odisha
Bhubaneswar, Feb 15: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik inaugurated 20 newly constructed bus stands spanning 13 districts as part of the 'Ama Bus Stand' initiative. These districts include Angul, Balasore, Boudh, Dhenkanal, Gajapati, Kendrapada, Keonjhar, Koraput, Nayagarh, Nuapada, Rayagada, Sambalpur, and Subarnapur.
During the inauguration, the Chief Minister emphasized the importance of communication in driving development, citing it as a vital component of the economy. He highlighted the 5T initiative's role in enhancing communication infrastructure and public transport systems, particularly connecting villages to urban centers through the Lakshmi Yojana. Patnaik also noted the initiation of metro rail plans in Bhubaneswar, underscoring the potential benefits for farmers and children's education with improved communication.
Patnaik further outlined the 'Ama Bus Stand' scheme's objectives, envisioning the new bus stands as future business hubs that will stimulate economic activity. He stressed the importance of bolstering public transport infrastructure and promoting its extensive usage, emphasizing the need for safety measures and proper maintenance at the new facilities.
State ministers, including Tukuni Sahu, Rajendra Dholakia, Jagannath Saraka, and Pradeep Kumar, participated in the program across various districts, underscoring the significance of the new bus stands in enhancing the state's transport services.
Coordinated by the 5T initiative and Nabin Odisha Chairman VK Pandian, the program highlighted the pivotal role of bus stands in shaping a city's identity. Pandian urged proper maintenance of the bus stands, which he emphasized as public property. Additionally, he provided insights into various developmental projects undertaken by the state government under the 5T initiative in diverse regions.
